THIGHPLASTY

Your skin naturally loses firmness with age because your body produces fewer elastin and collagen fibers. Skin tissue thins and can’t conform to your new body shape after weight loss. People often struggle with excess skin tissue in the upper thighs after weight fluctuations and aging have taken a toll on their figures. Dr. Georgina Nichols offers thighplasty (thigh lift) in Sacramento and will customize the procedure to your needs to provide a smoother leg contour.

Your Thighplasty with Dr. Nichols

Thigh lift reshapes the upper thighs by reducing loose skin and stubborn fat for smooth, taut skin. This procedure is often necessary after significant weight loss because the skin can’t contract to your smaller body shape. Fitness and weight control can improve your health and slim down your figure, but there’s little you can do about loose skin without surgery. Thighplasty removes the sagging tissues for a firmer thigh shape.

Dr. Nichols will evaluate your thigh area and may recommend thighplasty if you have hanging skin. Liposuction may be necessary to remove residual pockets of fat. If you have loose skin in other areas, such as the arms or abdomen, Dr. Nichols may suggest combining thighplasty with brachioplasty (arm lift) or abdominoplasty (tummy tuck).

Is Thighplasty with Dr. Nichols Right for You?

Candidates for thigh lift should be near their goal weight and show a commitment to maintaining their current size. Adults with significantly loose skin and excess soft tissues along the outer and/or inner thighs can benefit from thighplasty. You must be in good health with no medical concerns that may impact the procedure’s safety or inhibit healing. Tobacco use increases surgical and recovery risks and must be discontinued for several weeks or months before thighplasty.

During your consultation, Dr. Nichols will discuss your medical history, lifestyle, medications or supplements, and other factors to determine if thighplasty is right for your health and cosmetic goals.

Thighplasty Options with Dr. Nichols

The procedure details depend on the area of your thighs being treated and the severity of sagging tissues. Inner thigh lift (medial thigh lift) uses an incision in the groin that reaches from the groin crease to the knee along the inside of the thigh. The procedure removes excess skin and fatty tissues from the upper inner thigh region for a firmer appearance and feel. Dr. Nichols removes loose skin and fat to tone the area and closes the incisions, leaving a vertical scar on the inner leg.

A minimal incision inner thigh lift requires a shorter incision that stays within the groin crease. With this technique, Dr. Nichols removes a crescent-shaped piece of tissue from the upper area of the inner thigh, which leaves a horizontal incision line.

Outer thigh lift (or lateral thigh lift) makes an incision in the groin that wraps around the hip and extends across the back in the natural folds of the groin, hip, and underwear line. Advanced surgical techniques can conceal these incisions in places where swimsuits and undergarments cover them. However, lateral thighplasty requires extensive incisions to remove severe sagging skin and fat bulges from the outer section of the thighs.

These techniques place sutures deep in the underlying tissues to form and support the new thigh shape. The results are noticeable immediately after surgery, but swelling may take several months to disappear entirely. You’ll see gradual improvement with smoother, tighter thighs during recovery. The skin quality and feel are improved for long-lasting results as long as you maintain a stable weight and regular exercise.
