Breast Augmentation Options with Dr. Nichols
You can customize your breast augmentation to fit your needs and anatomy. Fat transfer breast augmentation requires enough donor cells to fill the breasts to the desired size, and some fat may reabsorb into the body.
Saline breast implants are silicone shells surgically placed and then filled with sterile salt water to the chosen size. If a saline implant ruptures or leaks, the implant collapses, and the body absorbs the saline solution, visibly showing that the implant has lost its shape.
Silicone breast implants are silicone shells pre-filled with a cohesive silicone gel that mimics the natural breast tissue. If a silicone breast implant leaks or ruptures, the gel remains within the shell or breast implant pocket, maintaining the breast shape, but an MRI or ultrasound is required to diagnose the rupture. Other options include form-stable or gummy bear breast implants that utilize thicker silicone gel.
