Avéli™
Cellulite is a frustrating cosmetic concern for women of all ages. The dimpled appearance is often compared to an orange peel or cottage cheese and is notoriously difficult to eliminate with over-the-counter products, diet and exercise, and cosmetic treatments. Avéli™ is a revolutionary cellulite reduction treatment that offers a long-term solution to the puckered skin appearance caused by cellulite on women’s thighs and buttocks.
Dr. Georgina Nichols is proud to offer Avéli™ treatments and is the only surgeon in Sacramento trailblazing this minimally invasive procedure.
What Is Avéli™?
Avéli™ takes the guesswork out of cellulite treatment; you don’t have to wonder or hope the procedure will smooth your skin because it physically releases the fibrous bands causing the dimpled appearance. Unlike other devices and treatments on the market, Avéli™ provides noticeable cellulite reduction with just one in-office treatment.
The Avéli™ device is FDA-cleared to treat cellulite on the thighs and buttocks of adult women. It’s the first and only cellulite procedure that targets and releases septa that cause cellulite dimpling, and the technology offers real-time confirmation that the taut fibers are severed.
Avéli™ addresses the dimpled appearance caused by cellulite but won’t address loose skin or fat under the skin because the device focuses on septa bands.
What Causes Cellulite?
Cellulite forms when fat pockets push against the connective tissue under the skin. The fat cells press against the skin, pulling the fibrous bands of connective tissue (septa) that connect the skin with underlying muscle and creating an uneven and rippled skin appearance. The thighs, hips, buttocks, and stomach are more prone to cellulite, but the cause is unknown. Severe cellulite has noticeable peaks and valleys that worsen when you pinch the skin.
While cellulite is harmless and affects many women, it is challenging to treat and affects women of all sizes and ages. Skin texture, body type, genetics, weight, and muscle tone can affect cellulite development. However, even thin, fit women have cellulite.
How Does Avéli™ Reduce Cellulite?
Most cellulite treatments address cellulite from the outside-in, but Avéli™ works from the inside-out. Avéli™ uses “mechanical subcision” to smooth cellulite. A tiny, hook-shaped device grabs and severs septa bands to release the taut fibers and improve skin appearance.
Dr. Nichols guides the Avéli™ device under the skin through a small incision, then identifies the septa causing the skin to dimple. The device releases a tiny razor that cuts the fibrous tissue and confirms the provider severed the bands. The skin lifts upward and takes on a smoother appearance once the septa are released. Avéli™ is the only device that manually targets and releases septa to treat cellulite.
The Avéli™ procedure takes about one hour to complete, including local anesthesia.
What to Expect After Avéli™ Cellulite Treatment
Clinical studies showed patients returned to their normal activities within one or two days of their cellulite treatment with Avéli™. While you should avoid rigorous activities and workouts for several days, there are no other activity limitations. Dr. Nichols will provide post-procedure care instructions after your procedure.
The most common side effects of Avéli™ in clinical trials included mild discomfort for up to 24 hours after the procedure. Tenderness to the touch and bruising were other concerns that were resolved within 30 days of Avéli™ treatment. Discuss your concerns, medical history, and potential risks with Dr. Nichols during your consultation.
When Will I See Results After Avéli™ for Cellulite Reduction?
Avéli™ offers long-term cellulite reduction for women with dimpled thighs or buttocks, and data from clinical trials shows results last at least one year. What makes Avéli™ stand out from other cellulite treatments is the fact that the device only requires a single treatment to achieve results with no maintenance sessions needed. Results start to be visible when swelling and bruising subside, with full outcomes apparent within a few weeks or one month of Avéli™ treatment.
Avéli™ should provide permanent results because the connective fibers causing cellulite are severed. However, the device is new, so long-term results are unavailable.
Is Avéli™ Right for You?
Adult females with cellulite dimples on their thighs or buttocks can benefit from long-term cellulite reduction with Aveli. Women with good skin elasticity make for excellent candidates, but those with moderate to severe loose skin may not benefit from Avéli™ because the technology won’t improve skin laxity.
